Peace Sign Decorations from Magazines

Old magazines are an amazing resource for many different crafts. In this instance, I folded sheets into thin strips and rolled them around each other, securing them with hot glue to create a disk. This technique is used to make paper bowls. My original intention was to make a bowl, but I stopped here at the first step, leaving me with a paper disk that I transformed into peace sign decorations.

I made one as a bookend/shelf decoration and another as a decoration for the rear view mirror in my car. For the car decoration, I purposely used magazine pages that were black and gray – you can see how the coloring is different from the bookend. I used 4-5 Time Magazines to make both of these. To make the peace sign I just arranged bits from a magazine page and glued it on top. To hang it from the rear view mirror, I glued the last few strips to form a hook and used a paper clip to hang it.

You can also use a disk for coasters or trivets. They would make nice housewarming gifts for a crafty friend!
